Button earrings

A few weeks ago I stopped by a store here in Trondheim that sells all sorts of sewing equipment, M Sommer Possementforretning. It's the most adorable little store that was opened way back in 1887.

I'm not much of a seamstress at all, but I did find something that tickeled my fancy - A plethora of buttons! I remembered having some flat earring studs back at home (you can easily find these on Etsy etc) so I grabbed a few pairs of buttons.

I preferred buttons without visible holes on the front, so that you can't see what they actually are. Just make sure they are made out of plastic or some other soft material so that you are able to cut off the loop piece doodads on the back. Add glue to the mix and voila!

Done!
Earrings that are unique to you, and very cheap as well. And sooo easy. Hooray!

Ready to rumble!

Come to me, my dearies.

Somewhere in the world, slowly making their way towards me.

I ordered two pairs of glasses the other day from a seller on Ebay. I saw the first pair in MsKittenVixens video on YouTube and she looked so adorable! I actually already have a version of these, the difference is that mine are all black and they're sunglasses, but I bought them from the same seller. After seeing MsKittenVixen I couldn't help but order these as well. I love the gradient effect! The other pair is a little more toned down. I figured that since both were dirt cheap (US $ 7.95) I might as well grab both while I was at it. :)
Since I already have a version of these I know that the quality isn't exactly top notch (just plastic) but what can you expect for that kind of price. I still plan on shelling out some more $ to have one (or both) fitted with prescription glasses.

A couple of years ago I bought a pair of vintage frames and while they do look great, I just felt that they were way too small for my face, so I have my fingers crossed my luck is better this time around.

^Insert glasses there.

First blog post!

I've finally decided to start my own blog! I've been a avid blog-o-holic for a long time, but I've never had one myself. I've just been lurking around like some creepy stalker. Time to join in on the fun! I don't have some grand plan on what this blog will be like, but being a fan of the 50s I suspect much of the focus will be on that. I've been fiddling around with the layout and appearance of the blog and hopefully this doesn't look too allright.
Also, I should mention that "Kattens mjau" is "Cat's meow" in Norwegian. According to Wikipedia, cat's meow is "an expression referring to something that is considered outstanding; coined by American cartoonist Thomas A. Dorgan (1877–1929), who signed his work as TAD."
It's not a expression actually used in Norwegian, but I liked the sound of it. :)

If you would like to get to know me a liiittle bit better, click here to go to my "about me" page. I found it a little hard to write about myself, so it's really just a very random list. But hey, you get the gist of it.

Mmmm, polkadooots

I have to go (time for hamburgers!) so I'll leave you with something I suspect you'll see a lot of in this blog in the time to come - polkadots! They make the world a better place. :)
